Schedule your session

Call to book your portrait session with Karl Von Artography. (We typically take appointments Friday evening through Sunday evening, but can look at alternatives, if needed.) Once the date is set, we'll send you information about how to get the most out of your session and to ensure your final images are the best they can be.

Before your session

Let us know where you would like to be photographed. We will photograph you at any outdoor location of your choice. If you don't have something in mind, we can suggest some options. (Travel fee applies for locations outside a 15-mile radius of Hazel Dell in Vancouver, WA. Multiple locations may require additional fees as well.)

Decide what you want to wear. We don't limit you on number of outfits, but suggest at least 3 to give your photographs some variety. Choose clothes you feel comfortable in and that reflect your personality. If you're not relaxed and confident in what you're wearing, it will show in your portraits. Stumped? Bring lots of options and we'll help you out.

Put together some props. Play a sport or a musical instrument? Love your dog? Have a favorite purse? Own a great car? Think about what special things you could incorporate in some of your photographs to document what's important to you.

During your session

Karl and Amy Baumgarten will meet you at the previously-arranged location. Karl will be your photographer and Amy will assist on the shoot with posing and outfit suggestions.

Bring along a parent or two. We want to make sure you get those specific shots they are looking for to put on the mantle, in graduation announcements, etc. We'll bring them into a photo or two as well. Have a friend you'd like to bring along? Feel free. They can help you relax and bring out a genuine smile.

We will photograph you in a variety of poses and places throughout the location. Your session will last 1-2 hours, from which you'll later have 50-80 final images to choose from. At the time of your session, you will need to pay the session fee and make the minimum order down payment.

After your session

View your proofs. We will post your proof images (password-protected) online within a week of your appointment. You will be notified when these are available. Proofs will remain online for 30 days to allow plenty of time for you, your parents and other family can decide what you'd like to order.

Once you have your order pretty much nailed down, give us a call to schedule an appointment to place the order. If needed, we can help you finalize your choices on photo selection, print sizes and quantities. Minor retouching is included with every photo ordered. Any balance owed will be due at this time.

Your final prints will be available within two weeks. We will notify you when they are ready for pick-up.
